Description
“Cellar-brate” your new home with two cellar-worthy wines. Crafted by winemaker Chris Carpenter, the 97-point Mt. Brave Cabernet Sauvignon hails from the acclaimed Mt. Veeder appellation, where steep slopes and a long ripening season induce vibrant, structured wines. This Cabernet Sauvignon is powerful and opulent but maintains an underlying thread of pure finesse. Blackberries and spice jump from the glass followed by secondary notes of dark chocolate and anise. Perfectly balanced acidity leads to a long, memorable finish. Beguiling now, the 2016 will charm your cellar for years to come. Farther south in Santa Barbara County, winemaker Greg Brewer has worked with the Machado family to craft a 96-point Pinot Noir for Brewer-Clifton. Greg uses neutral oak and whole-cluster fermentation (stems, seeds and all) to extract maximum flavor, a technique that he likens to roasting fish or meat on the bone. This single-vineyard Sta. Rita Hills wine opens with aromas of cherry, rhubarb and mint before segueing to lush black fruit and allspice on the palate. Enjoy now or cellar for 10-15 years.
